If you are like most parents with students in school these days, you are probably aware of the general anxiety that has afflicted our educational system as uncertainty builds over the future of the Department of Education and exactly what policy changes will mean for students across the country. Many stakeholders anticipate deep cuts to critical programs like special education and Title I services for low-income students. While administrative leadership changes bring promises to cut red tape, empower parents, offer more educational choices, and prioritize core subjects, there remains a crucial gap: no significant initiatives to improve HOW our children will be taught, only restrictions on WHAT can be taught and reductions in educational funding.
