Piece It Together

A visual puzzles task in the style of construction-free block assembly measures. You'll see a completed shape. Your job: pick the three pieces — and only three — that would combine to rebuild it exactly.

Study the completed target shape, including its seam lines.

Pieces may be mentally rotated, but never flipped over (mirror images don't count).

Size matters. All pieces are drawn to the same scale as each other — a piece that's too big or too small won't fit.

Select exactly 3 pieces, then press Submit before the clock runs out. Items get harder as you go.
Choose a mode
This is an original analogue for educational and demonstration use, inspired by the visual puzzles / matrix-assembly paradigm used in modern Wechsler-style batteries. It is not the WAIS-IV Visual Puzzles subtest, contains no Pearson items, and yields no normed or clinical scores. Constructs exercised: nonverbal reasoning, mental rotation, simultaneous processing, and part–whole synthesis.

What this exercises: holding a whole in mind while testing candidate parts against it (simultaneous processing), rotating pieces mentally without motor feedback, and inhibiting near-miss distractors (mirrors, rescaled pieces). Fast + accurate suggests fluent visuospatial synthesis; accurate but slow often reflects a deliberate verify-each-seam strategy — worth discussing metacognitively. Errors on mirror distractors specifically implicate rotation vs. reflection discrimination.
