I am thrilled to announce that I will be delivering the keynote address at the 6th International Academic Conference on Research in Social Sciences today! I will be speaking on my groundbreaking research on the neurocognitive impact of metacognition from my book that will be coming out at the end of the year, which is tentatively titled, "Pathway to Self-Authorship and Transformational Learning." I this speech I will delve into the ways in which metacognition can transform the way we learn and understand to enhance our ability to self-author our lives and achieve transformational learning with student.

A deep dive into the ideas that underpin my up coming book on the neurocognitive impact of metacognition.
I was fortunate to do an interview with Jordan Rich for the Webb Innovation Center for Dyslexia’s. It was great to have the opportunity to talk about Wholistic Problem Solving and the great Dr. Webb, who’s work has greatly inspired my own. The podcast is part of a larger program called Dyslexics Wanted and there are many fantastic interviews with inspiring and accomplished dyslexics. I think I may make it required listening for all of my PAL students because there are just so many great and interesting people here to listen to. Like Rebecca Rolland Ed.D. author of The Art of Talking with Children, and R.S. Mellette who worked on one of my favorite shows from back in the day Xena:Warrior Princess. Here is the link to all their great interviews:

I want to thank everyone at the 5th International Academic Conference on Research in Social Sciences. It was wonderful to hear about all of your research! The range of topics was mind boggling. This was my first truly international conference! Thank you for allowing me to share my work, and thank you to the other panelists who shared their research. I will be finishing data collecting for 2021-22 school year observations in August, so maybe next year I will be ready to present in Copenhagen in person rather than virtually.
My investigations into teacher perceptions of grade K1 is ongoing and active at this time, if you are a teacher in the United States, teaching in either kindergaten of first grade, please consider sharing your insight to this three year study, if you fit this criteria. Click here for a link to the questionnaire. Thank You! Tomorrow I will be presenting at the 5th International Academic Conference on Research in Social Sciences on my research on K1 teacher perspectives of their students functioning both before and during the pandemic. This research is actually on going, so if you or someone you know is a kindergarten or grade one teacher please share this link with them so they can share their insights and help develop research into the impact the pandemic has has on students just beginning their education.
Link to survey for K1 teachers: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfAhcSjSMWx0MrHCAOqUEcXjq7lBr2vEX1cZcYU66lpMtKAIQ/viewform?usp=sf_link I am only going to be collecting data for a few more weeks (U.S. Teachers only), so any help spreading the is survey would be greatly appreciated. This is such an important issue, and I want to thank all the teachers who have already taken part in the survey and helped with data collection. Your participation is greatly appreciated and will be part of my next paper that presents an overview of the data collected on K1 students over the last three years of the pandemic and their teacher’s perspectives on their function. This is a review of the metacognitive pedagogy called the learning conversation. It details how this appy can be used to address self-regulation and develop self-regulated learning abilities and a capacity of self-authorship. Here is the winner of the CURRY UNITY board, Tim Levakis. He came up with the best answer to my Hiphop inspired metacognition lesson. Congratulations!
This video is about Nelson’s Model of Metacognitive Consciousness. I discuss how this model of interacting modes of consciousness produces processes of monitoring and control that connect purely cognitive processes to neurobiological processes in frontal lob and anterior cingulate. These discoveries point to the possibility of an underlining neuro-therapeutic effect involved in metacognitive behaviors and activities. I am continuing my experimentation in creating videos that discuss the elements of metacognition and self-regulation. This video presents the work of Albert Bandura and his tremendously influential self-regulated learning theory. |
